Poem which is 99% Christian Kane’s LA Song, but rearranged, misheard and added to.
A pretty girl on every corner
Sunshine flooding the streets
It’s pretty as a picture
And they swear it’s always warm.
This world shines so brightly
It’s gonna rain down fire
The sky’s gonna open
While the people pray and sing
There goes me through love and laughter
Walking with the crowd
Dancing through the raindrops burning
And I can’t feel a thing.
So while everything’s burning bright
Everyone’s dancing through the fire
Saying how it’s always warm here
I can’t take the cold.
Original Poem:
Don’t leave them in the dark
Take them by the hand
Tell them promises ain’t
All they used to be.
Or:
Take them by the hand
And lead them through the dark.
The songlist of
frodolyn’s fanmix, From Grief to Grace, seems at times to be a poem.
When I was a young girl
(Not a pretty girl –
Such a common bird)
I wasn’t prepared for you
Your tongue like the sun in my mouth
After all this time
Your hand in mine (goodbye)
Farewell
That was Tracks 1, 2, 3, 9, 5, Bonus, 16, 11.
Poem inspired by Dr. Who (or at least the concept of the Time Lord, immortality and the inevitable loneliness as witnessed by the following lines:
“You can spend the rest of your life with me. But I can’t spend the rest of mine with you. I have to live on. Alone.”
“I’m so old, now. I used to have so much mercy.”
“Such a lonely little boy. Lonely then and lonelier now.”
Leaping sweetly through aged time immortal
He looks back
And smiles that wicked tempting smile
(All teeth and lips and impish glint)
Stretching out a hand
Knowing it is out of reach
Despite the straining fingertips
So his hand, face and smile
Turn away
Barely taking the time
(Lonely, infinite time)
To wave goodbye.
A pretty girl on every corner

It’s pretty as a picture
And they swear it’s always warm.
