I keep wondering what it must be like to write about the hero from the pov of the civilian being rescued, and villain from the pov of the minion. Thus, a story where the two pov's come together and give a very different, outsider's, idea of what the main characters are like. It will ending in one of their's death, though the pov-mixing will leave it uncertain as to whose.

Originally the fandom I'd been thinking was BtVS, but I guess this is vague enough for anything.

Got blindsided last night with the idea of prefacing chapters with bizarre shopping lists which both reflect the focus-character and the chapter-content.

Mostly this goes for OUaTiM and all sorts of guns, disguises and playschool* objects.

ETA: And each chapter would be named after a cooking instruction, like:

1. Preheat
2. Slice and Dice
3. Boiling Point / Bring to Boiling
4. Fold Gently

* How else to make fake blood, my dears?

A scene which I'm willing to explore is set after the "fade-to-black" where Danny and Maddy talk over a milk-carton of palm wine and we're left with their holding hands quite tenderley. Then, the next morning, a little eye-contact (via rear-view mirror) in the car.

Three ideas stemming from my being upset over the ending, and the love of the relationship between Clayton and Tom.

One of these ideas is slash. This makes me happy.

Warning: Thar be spoilers for the end.

Ideas don't return your calls )

The ideas run a bit more like 3 acts in one story.

My gods, these ideas sound so introspective. And a hell of a lot more mature in their subject matter than earlier ideas.

From the Sept. 21 entry over at [livejournal.com profile] bending_sickle: Not even the most imaginative storytelling could get me to accept a [Gladiator's Commodus/Maximus] fic in the movie's storyline. Before the storyline, however, is another matter.

Something awful has happened: I now have an idea. I hate how easly I'll come up with scenes and emotions I'd want to include into a fic, but the ever-elusive plot won't surrender to me and then there's the actual typing out of the story, which is even harder.

The idea )

...and I just relized now that the plot-bunny had no slash whatsoever.

Damn.

Coming up with ideas is really the least of my troubles when it comes to writing. I've got ideas a plenty, sometimes even full fleshed-out scenes. Plots, however, don't even get to be zombies. I can't do plots. In my whole short-lived history of writing, I've managed to write only one finished piece (All THings Copper), and that sorry bastard didn't need no stinkin' plot (from me, anyway) because it was a missing-scene thing. My original fic, Hero's Manual, doesn't so much have a plot as have a collection of random scenes somewhat connected.

But lately I've been having serious* crack ideas )

I have an even more cracktastic scene written out and it really has no explanantion at all. I'll try to get it on this LJ soon**.

As for all my other WIP fics, I reread through some of my Blinding Force fic. I found out I actually like it, despite some serious Mary-Suisms that have to go. Yet the overall concept was good, and I think I caught the glimps of a plot, which is most excellent. The fic touches on very interesting concepts, I think. Sure there's echo's of Whedonverses, like Illyria and the whole soul-concept, but that's innevitable. I've got a whole load of scenes written, but they need serious rewiting and organizing. My main concern is avoiding MarySueisms.

The fic itself is about... )

* As in, "lots of" "various", not "seriously written".

** And without bursting into flames of shame.

*** Or, if you prefer, she doesn't have midichlorians. But the cocnept of the little parasites is just ridiculous in any case.

Fear

Recalling the Star Wars Ep 1 (TPM) tone poems* (also found here), I wondered about these two definitions/litanies of fear:

Darth Maul: "Fear. Fear attracts the fearful, the strong, the weak, the innocent, the corrupt. Fear. Fear is my ally." From the dmeb2.

Bene Gessert:: "I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past, I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain."

From Dune** by Frank Herbert

I'd love to see Maul's face when quoted the Litany Against Fear. *evil glee*

* What is a "tone poem" you say? Why, it is a slave to this definition.

**Trivia from wiki: The original novel, Dune, was rejected by twenty publishers; it has since become the bestselling science fiction novel of all time, selling more than twelve million copies, including millions more of the five sequels.
