Crack and crossovers

Coming up with ideas is really the least of my troubles when it comes to writing. I've got ideas a plenty, sometimes even full fleshed-out scenes. Plots, however, don't even get to be zombies. I can't do plots. In my whole short-lived history of writing, I've managed to write only one finished piece (All THings Copper), and that sorry bastard didn't need no stinkin' plot (from me, anyway) because it was a missing-scene thing. My original fic, Hero's Manual, doesn't so much have a plot as have a collection of random scenes somewhat connected.

But lately I've been having serious* crack ideas:

1) Star Wars/Firefly crossover: Maul appears on Serenity. Innitially taken for a reaver, Jayne freaks and River shows off her fighting skills. There may be some mixing of River's psychic skills with the Force concept and some hopeless and very angry Mal and Maul one-on-one, which should be fascinating. This bunny came thanks to Kit, poisoned_sleep, who misread "Mal" for "Maul" and wondered what the hell I was on going on about.

2) Firefly: Letters from Mal to his mother and the ranch hands describing the different stages of the war, showing Mal's gently slide into bitterness. The last letter is returned on account of his home planet, Shadow, being rendered uninhabitable.

I have an even more cracktastic scene written out and it really has no explanantion at all. I'll try to get it on this LJ soon**.

As for all my other WIP fics, I reread through some of my Blinding Force fic. I found out I actually like it, despite some serious Mary-Suisms that have to go. Yet the overall concept was good, and I think I caught the glimps of a plot, which is most excellent. The fic touches on very interesting concepts, I think. Sure there's echo's of Whedonverses, like Illyria and the whole soul-concept, but that's innevitable. I've got a whole load of scenes written, but they need serious rewiting and organizing. My main concern is avoiding MarySueisms.

The fic itself started out as serious-take (but with no serious intentions) on all those fics where the expectator winds up in the film. There were loads of that type in Pirates fics,some even good, and I wanted to poke fun at it. Yet it never turned into a parody. Our OFC finds herself in the SW-dom at the end of Ep 1 (Phantom Menace) and makes a very stupid decision: siding with the Sith to try and prevent exploding planets. An added complication is that, being not of that world, she doesn't exist to the Force***. Since she's with the Sith and still of some use, she get's doses of Force put into her so she continues existing in that dimension. The problem is that, being Dark Side users, she doesn't exactly turn into a balanced SW-universe gal.


* As in, "lots of" "various", not "seriously written".

** And without bursting into flames of shame.

*** Or, if you prefer, she doesn't have midichlorians. But the cocnept of the little parasites is just ridiculous in any case.
